Good news on the economic front -
Startups in the SOMA district of San Francisco are growing rapidly. And that's a good thing.
As shown in the graphic to the right, rents are increasing (the bar graph) and office vacancy is down (the line graph). Not great news if you're a startup looking for space, but the good news is, there are startups looking for space!

Any report that's good for consumer confidence is a good report in my book! I hate to see reports that the economy isn't doing well, because I can't imagine them doing any good - but I can definitely see how they could impact consumer confidence negatively.
