Small business owners have to be expert jugglers. They need to be marketers, managers, financial planners, and innovators. They need to be comfortable wearing many hats so that they can balance the minutiae of the everyday with the broader vision.
Digital tools can help with this process. Twitter, Facebook, G+, Linkedin, and a host of other platforms can be a company's biggest asset in getting - and keeping - customers.
USA Today spoke with Reuben Canada, the founder of health beverage Jin+Ja, to learn how he uses social media to help his business grow. You can watch (and learn from!) his insights above.
In order for small businesses to have a successful social media presence, they should stick to these three principles:
1. Optimize your mobile presence.
Six in ten American adults own a smartphone, and 3 in 10 own a tablet. Make sure that your site and blog are optimized for mobile viewers. This means a bigger audience and bigger business.
2. Showcase your profile information.
Make your social media profile information accessible by placing it on your website, email signature and business cards.
3. Deliver interesting content.
Find unique ways to keep your audience engaged. If you are a food and beverage company, for example, then present recipes on your social media outlets. Keep your content topical and relatable to your product or service... But make it fun, too.
If you're a small business owner and feel overwhelmed by the prospect of engaging in social media, why not speak with a
marketing agency and let them take care of the details for you?
